me and claire found a candy store called "sugar heaven"- it totally rocks

I watched 'I heart huckabees'- It was good

A bunch of people in my neighborhood are trying to get Somerville to divest from Israel- there's a meeting tomorrow night with an Alderman for our district (Alderman is Massachusetts for City Councilman)- it was an awesome surprise to find their table on the corner of the intersection where i live saturday afternoon-

i really like my neighborhood- my intersection kind of sucks because a lot of bourgeois people and clubber types come to its restaurants- but the neighborhood is diverse in all respects- down the street there's a little square where old Sikh men hang out all day- and there's an taqueria with good cheap food- pretty dope

i guess the thursday night clinic is only every other thursday- that's alright, i'm pretty low on energy right now anyway- i'm not going to do CASA until next year, in case i end up transferring- setting up the tenant's clinic is looking a little tricky but doable- i'll look into it more depending on how much the allston brighton CDC wants it-

i've been thinking a lot about the ways we react to things- when i meet old friends, i feel a need for them to realize i'm a very different person- i wonder if this will be permanent? one layer of logic behind reactions is that it's the weakest part of an identity that needs the most validation (weak because it is new, most often attacked, least reinforced in the mainstream etc.)-

this phenomenon operates in dynamic with many other factors- i wonder if there is some sort of connection between this particular layer and the need to have faith in someone's humanity, even if they sometimes say things that are dehumanizing or do not strive for ethics to the degree that one would hope-

faith in someone's humanity seems twofold- on the one hand, trusting someone you know that they'll undergo progressive transformation- on the other hand, believing in humanity in abstract, the interconnectedness, blamelessness, and beauty of everyone, etc.

i have seen a lot of older activists who are militant but interact with people with this sense of peace- being very forgiving in their conversations with folks- or maybe i'm arbitrary constructing this as some sort of goal in my mind-
