2005-01-10 - 3:43 a.m. finally listening to www.againstthegrain.org program on 10/18/04 all i can say is...wow. i thought that the deadprez.com pimpin' the system video would be the coolest thing i've seen in a long time- but...wow. vijay prashad's speech was amazing. robin kelley is amazing as well! his ideas are amazing and he sounds like a man who's made real gains in divesting from patriarchy- i remember when i first read him i thought it was a woman too- kelley's ideas can reframe revolutionary culture- he takes a line from CLR James, "creating the future in the present" emphasizing the importance of visioning and imagining in community organizers- CLR James influenced grace lee boggs a lot if i remember correctly- what kelley's speaking on, that creating a new community/humanism/culture sustains social movements, not simply anti-oppression resistance- the line, turn america's war against the world into a civil war reminds me of the line in spook who sat by the door line, that america can't police the world and police the ghetto at the same time- prashad was inspiring-
