dreams

what are your dreams? what's the difference between goals and dreams? calvin points out 1) dreams are things you want and believe in very strongly and motivate you more than goals. 2) dreams implies thing being different from how they are.

inherent beauty? packaging? the packaging hints at inherent beauty?

in buffalo, i had one on one interview/tests to get into calasanctious and another school (city honors?)
i also did a test with a huge group of other middle school students while at city honors to get into a special math program at SUNY Buffalo- then we moved to chico

my parents had to search these things out. they also did a lot of educational preparation for
me, making me do math exercises of different kinds. the calasanctious interview included questions
about how i spent my days during the summer. i spent each day doing a set of math problems and reading a short book then writing a little book report about it (in addition to playing pick-up games of baseball and football almost every day- and secretly watching tv and playing original nintendo)

theory in levels of abstraction

people want love and meaning, human connections, and other attendant wants and needs:
basics such as food, clothes, shelter, desires such as sex, popularity, beauty, self-esteem

people want material goods, stable jobs, pursuit of their interests, not having to work,
not having to worry, families, friends; they want their desires and needs to be fulfilled

we need a society that allows this to happen; we need people to want this for other people,
to care about other people

this society is the dream: the personal transformation we promote is believing in this dream

praxis

to get there, we invoke one's moral imperative, one's capacity to believe in the dream,
and to some degree, self-interest

we need to make the dream concrete, to make that dream seem possible, to show how it would work

practice

build relationships with people

help people build relationships with each other

develop people the belief in themselves, the responsibility and maturity to lead

monitor dynamics, participation

plan actions, meetings, social gatherings, fun events, events that allow for expression and reaffirmation of
our dreams and take into account the aforementioned principles

Also: dynamics of movements and constituencies and the historical trajectory
